The U.S. Geological Survey is pleased to announce the selection of Christine Eustis as the new Associate Director (AD) for the Office of Communications and Publishing (OCAP).

Christine Eustis has been named the Associate Director (AD) for the Office of Communications and Publishing (OCAP). She will assume this role on November 17, 2024. 

As the AD, Eustis will oversee the congressional, media relations, internal communications, web and social media, and scientific publishing activities at the USGS. She will be responsible for developing and implementing the USGS’s outreach and communication strategies for external audiences and customers, and for engagement strategies and publishing functions within the USGS. Eustis has been acting in the AD role for OCAP since July.

Eustis joined the USGS in September 2021. She has more than 28 years of science communication experience. 

Prior to joining the USGS, she served in several communication leadership roles at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service including as the Deputy Assistant Director for the Office of External Affairs and the Chief of Congressional and Legislative Affairs. 

Eustis started her federal career as a Presidential Management Fellow for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and spent a year with the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee working on the Endangered Species Act reauthorization.
